It's a Girl: Beautiful Baby Shower!

We had a baby shower recently for my daughter-in-law who is expecting my 4th grandchild,
a baby girl named Eisley Jane.

We used the theme, "She's ready to pop!" because, well,

She is!

The food were all "pops": fruit pops, veggie pops,

cake pops, marshmallow pops,

well, you get the idea!

Her colors are pink and orange, so I made tissue paper flowers to hang from the ceiling
and pink and orange frames to hang above the food table.

One of her friends drew this cute picture and we handed out small pink and orange
paper balloons for everyone to write best wishes or advise.

We also did a candy bar for favors, keeping the "pop" theme,
with ring pops, lolly pops, tootsie pops...

I drug out my very large frame and filled it with a banner, Sweet Eisley Jane,
that can be used in the nursery, along with the tissue paper flowers and frames.

Now all we have to do is wait for this sweet baby to make her appearance!

There's Always Time For a Small Project!

My life has been a whirlwind this summer!
Between birthdays, babies, weddings, and many other things,
I haven't had as much time as I would like to work on projects around the house!

Well, the other day I found myself with a little free time.
I didn't have the energy or time to do anything big, but I really felt the need to do something creative!

So this is what I came up with.

I picked out one of the boards I have in a big pile outside;

grabbed some letters to trace;
painted, sanded and dry-brushed some white over the top.

Voila! It looks great over the kitchen window.

I have needed something here since I changed the color of the kitchen
and moved the red sign that once lived here.
(Now I just need to get a curtain up!)

This project took under an hour, so it just goes to show you,
there's always time for something creative!

Pirate Birthday Party :Arrrgh, Matey!

My adorable grandson turned 5 this summer.

He wanted a pirate party,

so his talented mother happily complied.

She made a pirate cake, complete with treasure chest on top, a hook,
cannonballs, and gold dubloons.

There was lots of treasure to be found,

fun games, like the ring toss,

and even tattoos!

There was also a pinata

filled with more treasure.

This one couldn't get enough of the jewels!

Everyone came in costume,

including the big kids!

Painted Kitchen Countertops: 1 Year Update

It has been over a year since I first painted my kitchen counter tops with
Rustoleum Counter Top Paint.

So, I thought it might be a good idea to let you know how they are holding up.

I haven't had any problems cleaning them.

I can scrub as hard as I need to, and they are perfectly fine.

They haven't chipped or stained.

If water sits too long in a spot, the color lightens up, but once it dries completely, the color goes right back to normal.

So, would I do it again?
Yes.
It's a good, economical solution to ugly, old, or stained laminate counter tops,
I think they have held up really well, and they look great!
