Furniture Project: Mahogany Deco Dining Table

Isn't this a beautiful old table?

Would you believe we picked it up at a yard sale for a song?

This was the condition of the top, but we knew it was solid wood.

We used Howard Feed-N-Wax to restore the finish.
Of course, it took a little sanding too, but not that much, believe it or not.

It turned out to be solid mahogany, made in the 1920s.

The lines are absolutely beautiful!

A perfect example of Art Deco design.

And there was a surprise inside!

It's called a "butterfly wing" leaf.

It expands the table from 4' to 5' and folds away inside when it's not needed.

I just love it when you run across something so special when you least expect it!
