Two Quick Holiday Projects/Gifts

I had to come up with a couple of quick gifts for a holiday gift exchange. With not much time, either to shop for materials or work on the projects, here is what I came up with:

I found both ideas on Pinterest, there are lots of similar ideas out there.

This one just needed some stickers and paint.

 I used what I had.

This one just needed scrap wood and paint.

 Which I have in abundance!

 Love its rustic charm.

Both projects took under an hour, not counting paint-drying time.

And best of all, they came from repurposed items:

 an old rocking chair seat

and cabinet door.

Time to Deck Those Halls!

Just a few shots to get started.

I always start with the mantel.

And continue with the living room, saving the tree for last.

The entrance is really part of the living room.

Moving on to the dining room.

New mercury glass vases this year.

Love my paper stars!

And, finally, the tree.

Furniture Project: Turquoise Desk

Cute little desk someone recently gave me.

Definitely needed a facelift, however!

Blue, green, or a combination?

I settled on mixing the 2 colors and using a dark wax.

You can get such a nice, one-of-a-kind piece when you mix your own paint!

Sometimes I have trouble letting a piece of furniture go,
and this one would have looked pretty good in my living room.

But, alas, I have no room.
Something else would have to go, and I'm not ready for that yet.
