Ladder Back Chairs

I found a couple of ladder back chairs at different yard sales recently.

They are such a fun style and both had rush seats.



I first thought I would just paint them white.

But then I thought they needed some fun color to go with the fun style!



So, of course, I went with turquoise!



The smaller one is a little greener than the larger one; it has a more intense color.



I am always so tempted to keep chairs like these, but as Hubs said, we would need to add another storage shed just for the chairs I can't bear to part with!

Roses and Rust: More Furniture Projects

My garage is so full of furniture, it's getting harder and harder to even get it it!
Less than 2 weeks 'till I can empty it for Roses and Rust!

Love clawfoot tables, especially painted white!

Oregon Street Antique Mall Redo

Last week I expanded my booth at the Oregon Street Antique Mall. I was just too cramped, so when the girl next to me moved to a different location, I immediately snatched it up!

 This is the old side. The door makes a nice focal point, front and center.

New side. Those cute slipcovered chairs are still here.

There are some great new pieces, like this big clock and beautiful old pictures in gorgeous frames.

Furniture Project: Whimsical Slipcovers

I just love these whimsical little chairs.

They look like they are wearing little dresses.

However, they didn't start out like this.

 This is the before.

Slipcovers are really simple to make, you just need to measure
 and adjust to the chair as you go along.

Even the pleats aren't complicated.

In this case, I just used seam bindings.

I don't measure (but you can if it makes you more comfortable),
just fold over the fabric and iron as you go.

Sew the smaller seam binding across the pleats, 

then sew to the chair.

I added button details

to the side

and top.

Adorable!

Furniture Project: Blue and White Chairs

Thrifting with my daughter-in-law one day, we ran across these cute chairs:

 Granted, they need some work, but they have good lines and were in good condition, just a bit dated.

 

 I ripped off the fabric and painted them a soft white. I had a fabric in mind, but when I went to the fabric store, they didn't have it. So I found a couple others I thought would work.

The chairs sat in my living room for a couple of days like this while I decided which fabric to use. I would walk by on my way outside and think, "Definitely the blue one"; then I would walk back inside and pass the chairs again a few minutes later and think, "No, I think the yellow is better".

Finally I chose the blue, partly because I realized I wanted to use the other on a black chair.

I think I made the right choice!

And the yellow and black looks great on this little black chair!
