Map Table

I had this little end table that I painted turquoise and then forgot about.
(actually, I think it got lost in the garage!)

I had added a map at some point, trying to add some pizazz.

I then promptly forgot about it again because it just wasn't very exciting.

Fortunately, I remembered it when I was redoing
 my grandkids' room.

 Painted red, it would be perfect!

 The room is all about adventure,

filled with maps and globes, ships and planes...
well, you can see it here.

 I left some of the turquoise because I love red and turquoise together!

Turquoise and White Table

I love how this table turned out!

It started out brown with a parquet top that was in pretty rough shape.

 

 I knew I wanted it to be turquoise, so I painted the legs 

 and apron of the table.

 

 I used a very dark wax and distressed it quite a bit.

 Then I painted the top white and used a natural wax.

 Really, really love this one!

In fact, I like it so much that I think I will keep it
for a coffee table in my living room,
because I am planning a small redo here soon!

It's Never Simple!

This corner of my family room was looking a little dark to me, so I thought I would just move some little tables around and fix the problem. Simple enough, right?

I should know better! Nothing is ever as simple as that. One thing always leads to another...

I have 3 end tables in that room and I just wanted to use them, not steal from other rooms.

So I moved them all around, seeing if they would look better in different spaces, and I finally settled on a good arrangement.

But I then realized I needed to paint this little dresser because the color was all wrong for the room.

My first inclination was to match the red cabinet I had in the corner. It wasn't really what I wanted, but I just couldn't come up with a different color.

So I painted it red and hated it! It just did not work on this cabinet.

So I painted over the red with with a green color, but I barely got that on before I knew it was wrong and painted it white.

It was better than anything else I had tried, but it was kind of blah.

The walls in the room are yellow, and I thought the cabinet would look cute yellow, but I didn't want it to blend into the walls. But maybe a yellow-white combination was the answer.

So I left the drawers white and painted the rest of it a darker yellow than the walls.

Finally, something I could live with!

And it solved my original problem of a dark corner, too!

Seeing Red!

I have been in a "red" mood lately.

It all started with a little red cabinet I painted last year.

Then my grandson and I were discussing the changes I was going to make to my "Grandkids' Room", and he asked me to paint the walls red because that was now his favorite color. Well, I couldn't commit to red walls, but I did promise to put a lot of red into the room.

So I painted some furniture pieces red.

First, this little bedside table that used to be black.

Then this little bookshelf  that was a dark brown.

Then I put them together to make one piece!

Really love how it came out!

I also painted this little chair red!

Here's a peek at the room, I can't wait to get it finished!

Furniture Project: Beautiful Vintage Round End Table

This cute little table was given to me because its owner didn't want it any more.

It had a beautiful shape and storage is always a plus!

Grey paint and white for the top and to highlight the details.

This was the original look; it had seen better days.

A beautiful robin's egg blue for the inside.

New fleur-de-lis knobs from Hobby Lobby.

Love it!

Shabby French End Table

Didn't this little table turn out cute?

This was how I found it at a yard sale.

It was in really bad shape.

But it didn't take much to give it new life.

Antique white paint, a little distressing.

Some French blue paint in key places and fleur-de-lis in the corners.

A very French-cottage look.
